The dragon is a mythical beast that could fly, breath fire, and fight. It was a horrible and dangerous beast that in most stories died. The claws were sharp enough to tear through armour like tissue. The beasts were big enough to eat a horse and still be hungry.
They were always taking maidens, hoarding gems, terrorizing villages and eating flocks of sheep. They were always considered a menace. The forms of attack were claws, teeth and fire.
